Creating A Cozy Christmas Mantel

Get inspired with warmth, charm, vintage decor, rustic accents, and seasonal foliage to make your fireplace mantel the focal point of your home this season!

Before diving in, take a moment to look around and see what you already have. Personally, I’ve found that buying less has been beneficial in recent years. I enjoy repurposing items I already own for unique and creative home decor!

Christmas Mantel Decorating Ideas

Christmas decorating offers countless ideas to make your home warm and inviting. You can try neutral-colored trees, natural greenery, holiday signs, and warm natural floral stems. To add a focal point, consider using a wooden arch with a decorative sign or holiday artwork. A wreath could also serve as a focal point, too.

Christmas holiday colors can display hues from natural and warm to bright and vibrant. If you prefer more neutral color hues, you may want to consider warm and natural creams. Golden touches, muted reds, and gentle green shades can provide other ideas, too. On the other hand, if you’re looking for a bold and vibrant style, you might choose brighter reds and greens. It’s your choice to decide on your desired Christmas color palette for the holiday season.

Today, I’m excited to share our cozy Christmas mantle that can be enjoyed all season long. I hope you will find inspiration and ideas to help you create a Christmas holiday mantel for your home, too!

Christmas Mantel Decorating

Now, let’s talk about how I decorated our fireplace mantel for Christmas this year.

I started the centerpiece with a grand wooden windowpane arch. I then added the faux greenery garland. Notice that the garland has a real look to it.

I then added the simple gold bell garland to the Christmas mantel. Of course, there are many garland options to choose from. This is where you get to be creative. I wanted to keep it simple while adding a touch of gold to our Christmas holiday mantel.

Let me share with you how I attached our garland with this simple tip!

Command Hooks For Mantel

I’m sure you have heard of Command Hooks! They are definitely useful for various purposes. I simply attached the garland to the mantel using command hooks to hold the garland securely in place. I positioned one hook on each end of the mantel and attached another one in the middle. This is a simple yet effective tip to help keep the garland in place.

Next, I added more greenery picks to the garland to give it more elevation and fullness. I chose two types of greenery – one with frosted greenery and pinecones, and the other with pinecones and a hint of red berries. I alternated the Christmas greenery picks in a pattern throughout the garland. You could add more greenery picks or even berries if you like, but I chose to stop here and maintain a warm, simple, and cozy feel.

Here’s another view of the garland with the added greenery picks.

More gold bells with a vintage look were added to the side of the garland. I also placed muted green Christmas trees on each side of the mantel. Notice I used a cream candle holder to help elevate the Christmas trees.

The Final Touch

Let’s add the final touch to our Christmas mantel! I found this vintage Merry Christmas round metal sign at a holiday festival and decided to use it for this year’s centerpiece. As you can see, I centered it with the wooden arch. Of course, you could place a beautiful wreath here too. Additionally, I added a red plaid ribbon with white trim to the Christmas sign. I love how the trim on the ribbon adds a beautiful festive look to this ribbon. This completes our Christmas Holiday Mantel Centerpiece.

Finding Cozy Home Decor Pieces

One question I often get asked is where I find my home decor pieces. I shop at places like Hobby Lobby, Michaels, Kirklands, and World Market. The key for me is to choose pieces that have a natural and timeless look. I especially love wooden tones for a natural aesthetic and timeless greenery for a touch of natural warmth. Adding neutral floral greenery stems can also help bring a room together. I try to choose items that can be used for years to come, as I’m all about reusing and repurposing decor. By the way, if you’re interested, I found the wooden arch here.

Final Cozy Christmas Home Thoughts

I have provided you with plenty of ideas to help you create a warm and cozy Christmas mantel in your home. The possibilities are endless. I opted to go with a simple and cozy Christmas mantel with a few subtle pops of color with reds and golds, but don’t be afraid to add more or less. Additionally, you could also add Christmas decor to other areas of your home, such as an entryway table, console, dining table, or shelf. This is your chance to be creative and discover a style that complements your home!
