How To Create A Simple Coffee Bar At Home

Are you ready to sit down and have a cup of coffee or maybe some tea? Our home has a special place where we enjoy coffee, iced lattes, and teas. I had dreamed of having a chic and simple coffee bar with a cozy seating area in our dining room. We already had a seating area, and now it was time to bring a coffee bar into our home. I had many ideas, but I needed to find a piece of furniture that would fit this space and stay within our budget.

Finding A Furniture Piece

Simple Coffee Bar Ideas

We had a great place in our dining room off the kitchen to bring in a coffee bar. I wanted to find a unique furniture piece, and I knew I could probably find it at a local furniture that I love to visit in our hometown. They specialize in unique and painted furniture pieces. After looking around, I found a buffet piece that was the perfect color and also fit within our budget. And not to mention, we got a discount on it, too. This was a win-win for us! We took it home and set it up in our dining room, as you can see here.

Now, I will share how I styled and organized our coffee bar.

Let’s Start With The Top Of The Coffee Bar

The focal point of our coffee bar starts with the two-tier-painted shelves where we store basic white coffee mugs and, of course, this sweet “But First Coffee” sign. I will share that I did make the shelf and sign. I used to make and sell signs, as I love painting and woodworking. However, now I DIY when I choose to. Also, notice the Coca-Cola mugs. These were gifted to us at our wedding, and I love that I can display them here. And, of course, the sweet little coffee sign adds the perfect touch to our coffee bar.

Now, you are probably wondering why we have two coffee makers. A few years ago, I invested in the Nespresso Coffee and Espresso Maker by Breville. Then, around the same time, one of my daughters was gifted the Illy Espresso machine. We decided to keep both of them here. And yes, we actually use both of them!

I found a wire basket to help organize the syrups. Notice that another coffee mug is used to store the wooden and gold spoons. A milk frother also sits on top of the coffee bar. The small glass jar holds brown sugar. I prefer to keep it simple and minimal, which gives this space a clean look.

Now, Onto The Drawers

This drawer is used to store the Nespresso pods, which I organized in the semi-clear bins you see here. I found these budget-friendly drawer storage bins at Target. However, you can shop at your local stores and find organizing bins that fit your drawer space, too. Another bin is used to store straws. I also lined the bottom of the drawer with a beautiful drawer liner to add a pop of color.

The next drawer has various teas organized here. Tea is one of my favorite beverages to sip on in the evening. I have some of the teas organized in their boxes and the rest organized in the drawer. Notice that I used a fruit basket to store some of the teas. I love collecting fruit baskets, as I have some in my kitchen, too. Additionally, you can also store hot chocolates in a drawer, too.

Now, of course, we stored all our coffees and teas in the kitchen prior to making this coffee bar. However, I am enjoying the cozy coffee and tea space we created in our dining room.

Let’s See The Cabinets

Coffee Mugs Cabinet Organizing

This cabinet is the main cabinet and has most of our coffee mugs organized here. It displays a basic white coffee cup collection, as well as some fun ones, too. A favorite thing we enjoy is buying a coffee mug from the places we have traveled. We do have a fun collection of mugs we have collected from traveling.

The smaller cabinet to the left is organized with holiday mugs on one shelf. Additionally, I also keep a minimal collection of seasonal decor, which I can pull out onto the coffee bar, depending on the holiday season. The top shelf also makes a perfect place to store candles.

This small cabinet to the right has a few ice buckets stored here. One is clear, while the other ice bucket is Coca-Cola. These are fun to use for family and friend gatherings. Extra water is stored on the bottom shelf. This completes the cabinet organization.

Coffee Bar Thoughts

Coffee bars can be a fun and unique addition to have in your home. You can have a designated coffee bar in your kitchen or another space if you choose. Having seating next to a coffee bar also makes it a cozy and conversational space for gatherings, too. Whether you prefer coffee, iced lattes, hot cocoa, or tea, you can choose how to set it up! I love that our guests can be offered coffee, too. We do have some guests who will ask for their favorite coffee when they come by to visit. I’m thankful we can fulfill their hearts with that special cup of coffee. I hope you enjoyed our coffee bar area. Now, you can go and create your special coffee bar space in your home, too!
