Ways To Stay Organized This Holiday Season

Holiday Organizing

The holiday season can sometimes be chaotic and busy for many of us. However, it doesn’t have to be either of these! To stay organized this holiday season, start early, plan ahead, set a budget, and organize spaces that need it. Additionally, remember to find time to slow down and relax. Slowing down will help you to recharge and minimize the chaos, too. Today, I will share a few simple tips to help you stay organized and enjoy every special moment of the holiday season!

First and Always, Plan And Make A List

Making a list is my number one tip to help plan for any holiday season. To help make your holiday planning less stressful and simple, I will provide you with a link to the Holiday To-Do List and the Christmas Gift List, too. You can find the free holiday printables at the end of the blog.

Now, let’s talk about ideas that you may want to include in your holiday planning.

Gift Giving

We all know the holiday season is a time of giving. I recommend making a list of gifts you would need to purchase. I also highly recommend making a budget, too. A list and a budget will help you stay on track in your gift-giving. Another option is to consider a homemade gift, such as a food item or a homemade bath salt, when on a budget. Remember, you don’t have to go all out on the gifts. Spending time with those who are important to you is just as valuable as getting the most expensive gift.

Extra food For Holiday Guests

If you know guests are coming for the holiday season, plan ahead and make a list of extra groceries you will need. If you can purchase some of the food items early, this will help check a few things off your list as you get closer to them arriving for their holiday stay. You may also decide to eat out or get take-out food for a night. Just make sure you plan on dining out within your budget, too.

Plan For Guests And Travel

Maybe you have family visiting, or you could be traveling, too. Do you need extra groceries or toiletries? Are there any special items your guests may need before they arrive? If you are traveling, make a list of what you will be taking with you ahead of time. This will help you remember what you need when it comes time to pack and get ready for your holiday travels.

Sending Christmas Cards

I know Christmas Cards can be fun and sentimental, too, especially when it comes time to see the special captured picture moment on your card. I recommend starting early, making a list, and sending them out as early as possible. We all know mail and delivery will slow down during the holiday season. Sending your Christmas cards early will ensure they get to your family and friends on time.

Planning ahead with a list and a budget will lead to a stress-free and organized holiday time! Just remember to stick to your list!

Make A Budget And Stick To It!

Holiday Budget Tips

When planning for the holiday time, always make a budget. Start with a list of all the categories you plan to have extra expenses on and make a budget for each item.

Which Items Will I Need To Budget For?

Think about gifts or family visiting. What additional costs, such as food or toiletry items, are needed when guests arrive? Or will you be traveling? How much do you need for gas or food to and from your destination? Don’t forget about Christmas cards or a special holiday outing. Giving each category a budget will help you avoid overspending and stay within your budget. Just remember to stick to it!

Organize Spaces That Need It

Holiday Organizing

Decide Which Spaces Need Organizing

Before entering the holiday season, I may take a few days and see what rooms need more organization.

Start In the Pantry

One main area in our home where I’m continually organizing is our pantry. I clean out our pantry and reorganize it a few times a year. Remember to look at expired dates and toss those items out. Simple baskets and container bins will also help to keep your pantry tidy and organized, too.

Look Around Your Kitchen

The kitchen usually needs a little organizing, too. Go through your drawers and get rid of items you no longer use. Sometimes, you may have multiple of the same item. I recommend only keeping what you truly need and find most useful, too. If you purchase an item you already have, I recommend donating the other one. Contributing to a local charity or church is also a great way to help others in need this time of year. Having only what you need and use will clear up the clutter in any space.

Preparing A Guest Room

Preparing a room for guests may require washing or changing the linens and having a welcome basket of items like toiletries or towels. Maybe you would even include a housewarming basket with a holiday soap or relaxing spa-like hand lotion. And, of course, you could add a little chocolate, too. Preparing your guest space early will help you check off one more item on your list.

Tidy The Bathroom

Of course, you will want to clean and tidy the bathroom that your guests will be using. Start by cleaning and tidying the countertops and the bathtub. Have towels, toiletries, and any soap products ready to use. I suggest having a basket of guest bathroom supplies ready either in a basket or on the counter where they can easily see them. Alternatively, you could have these readily available in the guest room, too. Just remember to prepare before they arrive to avoid any last-minute runs to get an item they may need.

Remember To Take Time To Slow Down And Relax

I know the holiday season can be busy and feel chaotic, too. Just remember, it’s okay to slow down and relax!

Ways to Relax

There are many ways to relax during the holiday season. You may sit down and watch your favorite holiday movie or put up your feet and read a motivating book. Aromatherapy, lighting a relaxing soy-based candle, and diffusing your favorite essential oils create a calm environment. Sipping on your favorite holiday latte is another way to enjoy the holiday season. Finding a fun holiday puzzle is a fun way to relax at the end of a busy day. This is where you get to choose what helps you to relax!

Organized Holiday Final Thoughts

Staying organized for the holiday season can be simple by following a few tips. Remember to prepare early by making a list of things to do and creating a budget. And Always, find time to slow down, enjoy the special moments, and remember the true meaning of the season! I hope these holiday organizing tips have inspired you to plan ahead and have a wonderful holiday season with your family and friends.
